Montijo is a town and a municipality in Portugal, located in the Setúbal District, in the Baixo Tejo Subregion. The population in 2011 was 41,817, in an area of 147.90 km². The town of Montijo has a population of about 20,000 inhabitants.
Montijo is located on the south bank of the Tagus River, across from Lisbon. It is served by the A12 motorway, the IC2 and IC19 highways, and the Montijo railway station. It is also served by a ferry service, linking the town to Lisbon, Trafaria, and Seixal.
Montijo is known for its traditional bullfighting festivals, which take place in the town's bullring, the Praça de Touros de Montijo. This is the oldest bullring in Portugal, having been built in 1786. The bullfighting season runs from April to September.
The town is also home to the Montijo Air Base, a Portuguese Air Force base. The air base is the home of the Portuguese Air Force's Maritime Patrol Squadron, which operates the P-3C Orion aircraft. The base also hosts the Portuguese Navy's Helicopter Squadron, which operates the NH90 and AW101 helicopters.
Montijo is also home to the Montijo Museum, which is housed in the former Convento de São Francisco, a 17th-century convent. The museum features exhibits on the history of Montijo and its surrounding areas. It also has a library, a collection of religious art, and a collection of archaeological artifacts.
Montijo is also known for its traditional cuisine, which includes dishes such as bacalhau com natas (codfish with cream sauce), caldo verde (green soup), and carne de porco à alentejana (pork with clams). The town also has numerous restaurants, bars, and cafes, offering a variety of traditional Portuguese dishes.

We were not very clear about the language, if the insurance was included in the price when we hired it on the internet, because the employee told us that apart from the money we thought we had to pay, insurance was not included.

No issues. great location close to the train station. had hoped for something more similar to the vw up (i.e. easier on fuel) but probably needed the extra power to climb all of those mountains.
