Darlington is a large market town in County Durham, in the North East of England. It is situated on the River Skerne, a tributary of the River Tees. The town lies between the A1 and A66 roads and has a population of around 105,000.

Getting to Darlington is easy by road, rail or air. The town is just off the A1 and is served by the A66 and A167 roads. Darlington railway station is a major stop on the East Coast Main Line and is served by direct trains from London, Edinburgh, York and Newcastle. Durham Tees Valley Airport is the closest airport, located around 20 miles away.

Once in Darlington, the town centre is easily explored on foot. The pedestrianised High Row is the main shopping area, with a range of high street stores, cafes and restaurants. Nearby is the Victorian Market Hall, home to a variety of independent shops, while the Cornmill Shopping Centre offers a range of big-name brands.
