Leigh is a town in Greater Manchester, England. It is situated on the south bank of the River Mersey, 7.7 miles (12.4 km) southeast of Wigan and 9.5 miles (15.3 km) west of Manchester. The population of Leigh in the 2011 census was 43,888.

Leigh is known for its large cotton industry and its association with the Leigh Spinners, a rugby league club. The town was formerly the site of the Leigh Spinners, a large cotton mill, and the Leigh Corporation, which was responsible for the construction of the town's public buildings and streets. The town is also home to the Leigh Sports Village, a multi-purpose sports complex.
